Cillian is a student of Engineering and Communications at NUI Maynooth. He was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 8. He shares his story and experiences of living with ADHD.
The mission of HADD Ireland is to make life easier for people with ADHD. We believe that there is nothing more powerful than people telling their own stories. Why? Because it helps to break the stigma associated with ADHD.
Stigma affects people with ADHD and their families in many ways. People fear that others will treat them differently but silence fuels fear and a wider public ignorance which can only result in further stigma.
Cillian says that being open about having ADHD made life easier for him. We can learn a lot from Cillian and if everyone with ADHD broke the silence that fuels this stigma, life would indeed be easier for all who are affected by ADHD and more people would be encouraged to seek diagnosis and public attitudes would begin to change.
We at HADD are very interested in talking to others who are willing to share their stories. You can email your story or send us an audio or video.
Thank You Cillian! for sharing your story and we wish you the best of luck in college.
